Is a tradeshow right for your business? It can be if you always ask yourself those 4 simple little questions of How, Where, When, & Why. There is no reason for you to be at a tradeshow, and spend the money to go if it is not helpful to your business. You may try networking with other complimentary businesses who can hand out your information at a trade show. They may be attending in exchange for you to hand out their information for one you may be attending. This can help you cut your cost down and still get product information out at multiple shows. If you do decide to take the plunge and sign up for a trade show exhibit then make sure you come prepared.
Where is the trade show located?
Is the trade show close to home base or far away. Think of traveling expenses and if the demographics are worth the expense. For example if you are a new company producing video games and you have the budget to go to an E3 event then you could easily say traveling expenses to the location is very much worth the effort and expense for you. There may also be a trade show that will provide you with similar results yet be located closer to your home base. When is the trade show and do you need to be there?
If the trade show could take you away from a busy time of the year where you need to focus more on running the business than marketing the business then maybe wait for a better time. If you can afford to send someone to it and feel it is crucial your business to be there then ask yourself the other 3 questions and you will be set.
Why do you want to go to this tradeshow?
Be absolutely sure your reason for going to the trade show is based on your business goals and objectives. Don't go without first researching to find out if the traffic at the show aligns directly with your business. Remember that someone needs to man the booth at all times for a successful show. There are many tradeshows in many locations throughout the year and if you plan for the ones you feel are best fitting to your desires, you will get a better show with greater results.

How will you set up your booth should you decide to go?
Know your booth size and what you want to display at the show. Have hand out flyers and items ready to go at least 2 weeks before the show. It is a good idea to have your booth and display items ready up to 4 weeks before the show. In the case you need to make last minute changes. There are many creative ways to set up an attractive booth using fabrics & lighting, foam core large photos, laptops, also some silk plants and simple flyers. Keep colors, give-aways, and all presentation items consistent with your Brand.
